SOFIA, April 15: The Kuwaiti girls' rhythmic gymnastics team delivered an outstanding performance at the Phoenix Cup, held in Sofia, Bulgaria, earning a total of 10 medals—3 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze. The international tournament featured strong competition from elite teams representing countries such as Brazil, Poland, and the host nation, Bulgaria.
Among the standout performers was Sarah Al-Bannai (born 2012), who competed in the elite category. Al-Bannai claimed a silver medal in the mace, a bronze in the ribbon, and placed fourth in the individual all-around and fifth in the hoop.
In the first-level category, Raya Al-Qassar (born 2013) won two gold medals—one in the individual all-around and another in the club event—along with a silver in the ball competition.
Fellow first-level gymnast Nabila Al-Kharafi (born 2013) earned a gold medal in the ball, silver in the individual all-around, and silver in the hoop.
Meanwhile, Talya Behbehani (born 2014) secured a silver medal in the club, a bronze in the ball, and finished fourth in the individual all-around.
This impressive medal haul reflects the rising level of rhythmic gymnastics in Kuwait and the commitment of its young athletes on the international stage.
