Kuwait witnesses 11.8 % increase in elderly people

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: In line with the Ministry of Health’s launching of the National Survey of Elderly Health project, statistics from the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) revealed an 11.8 percent increase in the number of elderly in the country -- above 65 years old. The statistics revealed that the total number of elderly people, who are above 65 years old, reached 140,114 -- 59 percent of whom are Kuwaitis and 41 percent are expatriates. This is an increase of 16,487 compared to the July 2023 statistics. The PACI statistics on the elderly at the end of 2024 showed that the total number of males reached 70,162 (33,018 Kuwaitis and 36,244 non-Kuwaitis) -- an increase of 11.5 percent (8,084); while the number of females reached 69,952 (48,786 Kuwaitis and 21,166 non-Kuwaitis) -- an increase of 12 percent (8,403).
