CAIRO, June 20: The Kuwait youth team lost to Egypt 0-4 in a friendly match at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo.

After the match, Hayef Al-Mutairi, Vice President of the Football Association, emphasized that such matches are opportunities for players to exchange experiences and develop skills, especially before the start of international and Arab tournaments.

Al-Mutairi praised the spirit of the youth team players and urged them to avoid mistakes in friendly matches and strive for better results in regional and international championships to satisfy Kuwaiti fans. He also highlighted the constructive cooperation with the Egyptian side, mentioning the agreement with the Egyptian Federation on team preparation, participation, and mutual visits.

Al-Mutairi added that the team is beginning preparations for the West Asian Championship in Taif, Saudi Arabia, which will serve as preparation for the Asian Cup. He noted two upcoming camps in August, followed by a 21-day training camp in Serbia. The team will then return to Kuwait before participating in a friendly tournament in Azerbaijan, featuring four teams over two weeks. Upon returning to Kuwait, the team will hold two trial matches before starting the Asian Cup qualifiers.

Team director Jarrah Al-Ateeqi confirmed that the players performed well given the limited preparation time following the end of the under-19 league and academic exams. He acknowledged that this short preparation period affected the players’ physical fitness, as they had less than a week to prepare for the match.
