KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: Authorities in Hawally Governorate have summoned two expatriates for questioning regarding a workplace dispute that escalated into accusations of public insult and attempted harm. The investigation stems from a complaint filed by a Kuwaiti businessman, born in 1986, who claims that his business partner, also an expatriate, incited two employees to insult and harm him.
The incident began when the businessman discovered that one of his employees, a 1991-born expatriate, had insulted him in a private company group chat, which included dozens of store employees. Offended by the public nature of the insult, the businessman suspected his partner’s involvement, accusing him of instigating the disrespect.
The case took a more alarming turn when the businessman further alleged that his partner had instructed another employee to burn him during a tanning session, which he regularly undergoes. The initial case was registered as “misuse of a phone”, but authorities have indicated that if the evidence supports the accusation of intentional harm, the charges could be upgraded to incitement to cause serious injury.
The Hawalli police investigator is currently reviewing the evidence and statements from all involved parties to determine the appropriate legal action.
