KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: Ahmed Al-Bazzaz, the champion of Kuwait and the Marine Sports Club for ice diving, concludes his two-week camp in Moscow and sets off for Vladivostok, overlooking the Sea of Japan, to embark on the second leg of his external training. This preparation is in anticipation of his participation in the World Ice Diving Challenge Championship scheduled to take place in Vladivostok on February 24 and 25.
In an exclusive statement to Al-Seyassah, Al-Bazzaz expressed his determination to give his best in this inaugural world championship appearance. He aspires to proudly raise the Kuwaiti flag in the distant and icy terrain, coinciding with Kuwait's national holidays and Liberation Day celebrations.
Al-Bazzaz emphasized that the tournament, held under the harshest weather conditions with temperatures plummeting to approximately 15 degrees below zero and ice thickness reaching 40 centimeters, stands as one of the most challenging and demanding in the realm of sports. He extended sincere gratitude to the Kuwaiti Marine Sports Club, the General Authority for Sports, and the Olympic Committee in Kuwait City for their unwavering support.Notably, Al-Bazzaz holds the distinction of being the first Kuwaiti and Gulf Arab participant in this prestigious world championship.
