KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: A Kuwaiti citizen’s complaint against a delivery worker, accusing him of theft, took an unexpected turn as investigations revealed the complaint to be malicious. Authorities uncovered that the complainant exploited his position and threatened the worker with harm.
The incident began when the Kuwaiti citizen reported to a Hawalli police station that a delivery worker had stolen KD 160. According to the complaint, the citizen had ordered clothes via an Instagram store, and the worker fled with the cash payment without handing over the items.
However, during questioning, the delivery worker denied the allegations, asserting that he had delivered the clothes as requested. He also claimed the complainant had shown an ID card from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry during the exchange but did not pay any money.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the scene suspicious of the complainant's account. The recordings revealed no theft had occurred. Instead, the complainant was found to have misused his position as a commercial inspector to intimidate the worker. The footage showed the complainant threatening the worker with his official ID, demanding the items, and stating, "Give me the items, or I will hurt you."
The case is now being pursued against the complainant for filing a false report and misusing his authority.
