KUWAIT CITY, Nov 7:  The Kuwaiti futsal hearing-impaired team bid farewell to Spanish shores on Tuesday evening as they embarked on their journey to Brazil to participate in the FIFA Futsal World Cup for Deaf, commencing this coming Friday. Salem Aman, the team's coach, shared with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the players underwent an eight-day training camp in the Spanish city of Granada to prepare for their debut in the World Cup.

During their stay in the Andalusian city, the Kuwaiti team played two matches against their Spanish counterparts, who are the reigning world champions. The first match ended in a 2-2 draw, while the second saw Kuwait narrowly losing with a score of 3-2. These results were seen as positive, bolstering the team's spirits. Aman emphasized that the primary goal of the training camp in Spain, which involved 14 players, was to gain valuable international experience. He also expressed relief that no players sustained injuries during this period.

Aman revealed that Kuwait's journey in the World Cup is set to kick off in Sao Paulo, running until November 19. On the first day of the competition, they will face the Danish team, followed by a match against the British team the next day. Their final group-stage encounter will be against the Swiss team next Sunday. Anwar Al-Harbi, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Sports Club for the Deaf, is leading the delegation, accompanied by Vice Chairman Hussein Bu Hamad, Treasurer Khalaf Al-Shammari, team manager Falah Dabsha, sign language interpreter Mahdi Dashti, and the dedicated team of players.
