KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: A Kuwaiti filed a case against an Arab national who defrauded him into building a "dream house," only to switch off his phone and flee with the money.

The Kuwaiti stated in his complaint that he had agreed with a contractor to build his dream house and deliver the keys within a short period. However, the accused insisted on receiving a substantial payment upfront to expedite the project.

The Kuwaiti, distressed over losing money meant for his dream home, explained that he had given the contractor 10,000 dinars as a down payment. To his dismay, the contractor then asked to postpone construction due to a lack of sufficient workers and continued to offer excuses for over a month. This led the Kuwaiti to request a refund.

He added that the contractor stopped responding to calls for three days before turning off his phone and blocking him on WhatsApp, leaving him no choice but to file a case of breach of trust and theft against the contractor.
