Kuwaiti doctor participates in the World Endoscopy Conference in the US
Consultant in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Liver Diseases, and Endoscopy at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, Dr. Asmaa Al-Kandari.

PARIS, March 3: Dr. Asma Al-Kandari, a consultant in internal medicine, gastroenterology, liver diseases, and endoscopy at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, participated in the 14th Annual Conference of Experts on Strategies in Endoscopy, Gastrointestinal, and Liver Disorders for 2025. Dr. Al-Kandari shared her experience with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday, stating that she took part in the World Endoscopy Conference, held in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, via video link from Milan, Italy.

Dr. Al-Kandari emphasized the importance of participating in this global conference, which is affiliated with the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). She considered her involvement a valuable opportunity for communication in the field of education, particularly interactive education. She highlighted the significant impact of new endoscopic technologies, which enable the early detection and treatment of tumors, reducing the need for major surgeries.

She expressed her commitment to attending such conferences to exchange expertise with specialists in the field and stay informed about the latest advancements in gastrointestinal endoscopy. Dr. Al-Kandari also expressed pride in being the only participant from the Middle East and in representing the State of Kuwait at such a prestigious global and scientific forum.

During the conference, Dr. Al-Kandari performed a pharyngeal diverticulum operation, which included the removal of an early-stage tumor using an endoscope. This procedure was broadcast live through video communication, allowing thousands of specialists worldwide to observe and learn from her experience. Her use of artificial intelligence in endoscopy was also highlighted, showcasing its therapeutic benefits in her practice.

The global event aimed to present key practices and skills in endoscopic diagnostics, including the correct placement of cavity stents, mucosal removal, bleeding control, and endoscopic resection. Practical workshops were conducted to improve accuracy in diagnosis using advanced techniques.

Additionally, the conference focused on developing an evidence-based approach to treating inflammatory bowel disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and functional bowel management. It also emphasized new therapies, team-based treatment plans, educational tools for patients with viral hepatitis and colon cancer, and improving patient outcomes through the latest screening and monitoring guidelines.
