Kuwaiti Embassy in Brunei celebrates National and Liberation Days.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: Kuwait's diplomatic missions around the world celebrated the country's 64th National Day and 34th Liberation Day with official events attended by senior officials, ministers, ambassadors, and dignitaries. These events were held in Slovakia, Switzerland, Brunei, Italy, Lebanon, Algeria, Germany, and Portugal, highlighting Kuwait's strong international relations and commitment to global peace, development, and cooperation.

In Switzerland, Nasser Al-Hayen, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, emphasized that these national celebrations reinforce Kuwait’s global ties. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to collective action for a peaceful and prosperous world, showcasing its cooperative approach under the leadership of His Highness Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Al-Hayen underscored Kuwait’s support for international peace and security, citing its role in the UN Security Council (2018-2019) and the ongoing membership in the Human Rights Council, which extends until 2026. He also highlighted Kuwait's humanitarian initiatives and its contributions to global development through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, which has provided 411 grants to 148 countries.

In Brunei, Acting Chargé d'Affaires Khaled Al-Farhan celebrated Kuwait's national holidays at the Royal Brunei Polo Club, emphasizing the strong bilateral ties between Kuwait and Brunei. He called for enhanced relations through official visits and greater economic cooperation, and highlighted Kuwait’s impressive economic and urban development, which attracts foreign investment.

In Italy, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Rome hosted a reception attended by senior Italian officials, including the Undersecretary of the Italian Ministry of Defense. Ambassador Nasser Al-Qahtani praised the historical relations between Kuwait and Italy, extending congratulations to the leadership of Kuwait.

In Lebanon, Counselor Yassin Al-Majed, Charge d'Affaires at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Beirut, reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, and Arab identity. The Lebanese government, represented by Fadi Makki, Minister of State for Administrative Development Affairs, expressed pride in the strong relationship with Kuwait. The event celebrated Lebanon’s progress with the election of a new president and government, symbolizing the deep, enduring friendship between the two nations.

In Algeria, the Kuwaiti Embassy marked the national holidays with a ceremony attended by Algerian Finance Minister Abdelkrim Bouzerd and other dignitaries. Acting Chargé d'Affaires Khaled Al-Youha highlighted the strong, fraternal ties between Kuwait and Algeria and spoke about the preparations for a joint committee meeting that would bolster economic and trade cooperation.

Germany also hosted celebrations, with Ambassador Reem Al-Khaled emphasizing the over 60 years of strong bilateral relations between Kuwait and Germany. She expressed gratitude for Germany’s support during Kuwait's invasion in 1990 and reiterated the deep, mutual understanding between the two countries.

In Portugal, Ambassador Hamad Al-Hazeem congratulated the leadership and people of Kuwait, stressing the depth of relations between Kuwait and Portugal. He highlighted efforts to strengthen these ties, particularly through the creation of a trade delegation from Portugal and the continuation of political, economic, and cultural exchanges.

Throughout these celebrations, Kuwait’s diplomatic missions reinforced the country’s dedication to promoting peace, development, and international cooperation while reaffirming its commitment to supporting its allies and further strengthening its global partnerships.
