Kuwaiti Fugitive Salman Al-Khalidi Captured in Iraq, Extradited Home

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: In a significant security achievement underscoring robust international collaboration, Kuwait's Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of fugitive Salman Al-Khalidi, who was wanted for 11 enforceable prison sentences. The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Interpol Department, coordinated the operation. Al-Khalidi has been the subject of Arab and international notices since December 4, 2023, based on judicial rulings circulated globally.

The Ministry revealed that the fugitive was tracked to Iraq, prompting the formation of a specialized security team from the Arab and International Criminal Police Department (Interpol). Close coordination with Iraqi authorities and the Kuwaiti Embassy in Iraq led to Al-Khalidi’s capture before he could escape. He has since been handed over to Kuwait to face legal proceedings.

The Ministry expressed its deep gratitude to Iraqi officials, including the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani, Iraqi security forces, and the judiciary, for their swift cooperation. The Ministry emphasized that this operation reflects the strong fraternal ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to justice and regional security.

Reaffirming its dedication to upholding national security, Kuwait's Ministry of Interior pledged to continue pursuing individuals who threaten the safety of the nation and its citizens, both domestically and internationally, with strict enforcement of the law.
