KUWAIT CITY, July 23: The Court of Appeals sentenced a citizen to five years in prison with hard labor for violating the State Security Law when he joined the Islamic State of Iran and Syria (ISIS), which aims to destroy the basic systems in Kuwait and expose the nation to the risk of severing relations with a friendly country, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

The Public Prosecution charged the accused with engaging in a hostile act against Iraq without the permission of the Kuwaiti government, because he joined a banned organization – ISIS -- which is fighting against Iraq; thereby, putting Kuwait at risk of severing political relations with another country. The prosecution argued that the accused joined the banned group, even if he is aware that the group is keen on promoting principles aimed at destroying the existing social and economic systems in the country.
