DUBAI, Oct 16: The Kuwait Winter Games Club announced that the Kuwaiti ice skating team will compete today in the Dubai International Freestyle Skiing Championship for men and women, featuring three athletes: Salman Al-Kandari, Safaa Al-Abdullah, and Salil Al-Abdullah.

Sheikh Jaber Bandar Al-Sabah, the club's honorary president, emphasized that this competition serves as a key preparation stage for the athletes ahead of the Asian Winter Games (Harbin, China 2025), scheduled to begin in February next year.

He noted that the club has provided thorough preparations for the players in this championship, which is organized under the supervision of the International Ski Federation (FIS) and spans three days. The two Al-Abdullah athletes completed a week-long training camp in Dubai alongside the UAE national team players.

Meanwhile, Al-Kandari has prepared by participating in sports gatherings at specialized ice rinks. These experiences, according to Al-Sabah, are vital for the athletes as they gear up for the major event in China, as well as earning crucial ranking points with the International Ski Federation.

He further stressed the club's commitment to ensuring optimal preparation for Kuwait's participation in the Asian Winter Games, the second-largest sporting event on the Asian continent.
