Kuwaiti Journalist Faces KD 50,000 Fine Over Sectarian Remarks During Muharram

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: The Criminal Court has imposed a fine of 50,000 Kuwaiti dinars on media personality Aisha Al-Rasheed for inciting sedition and insulting Shiite citizens via her video clips during the holy month of Muharram. Following her indictment for violating the National Unity Law and insulting a segment of society via her YouTube channel, the Public Prosecution released Al-Rasheed on 500 dinars bail. This case underscores Kuwait’s commitment to preserving national unity and holding individuals accountable for content that threatens social harmony.
