KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31, (Agencies): The Kuwaiti Literature Academy, located at the Kuwaiti Writers Association in Al-Adailiya, kicked off its new season with a workshop titled "Common Language Mistakes," sponsored by the General Youth Authority.
Dr. Mashari Al-Mousa, an Arabic language professor at the University of Kuwait, emphasized that one of the workshop's goals is to raise awareness about prevalent linguistic errors, focusing on the challenges writers face when handling the Arabic language, whether in formal or informal contexts.
He highlighted that there is a range of vocabulary issues to address, such as understanding the rules for writing the hamza at the beginning, middle, and end of words, as well as distinguishing between alif and hamza in certain instances. Dr. Al-Mousa pointed out, "Recognizing these common mistakes is crucial in order to correct them and understand their origins."
Regarding the workshop's popularity and its significance in the age of social media, Dr. Raghda Al-Nashwan, the president of the Kuwaiti Literature Academy, stated that the workshop gained substantial attention on social media from the moment it was announced. She also mentioned that there are other workshops and courses in progress, including those related to writing poetry, essays, and short stories.
These workshops aim to assist both beginners and professionals in enhancing their writing skills, ultimately contributing to the development of their literary expertise. Dr. Al-Nashwan revealed that this year, the academy plans to launch a club for attendees, providing a platform for regular workshops that involve brainstorming and mental exercises.
She expressed her gratitude to the General Youth Authority for its support of the Kuwaiti Literature Academy, emphasizing that the collaboration between the two entities serves to promote the literary talents of Kuwaiti writers and authors.
