In a statement to the daily, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf stressed: “There is no need to be afraid, as no nationality will be withdrawn unless it is checked a million times. The identification documents are verified before taking any action.” He revealed: “We received reports after opening the designated hotline, but no action will be taken unless the information is verified.” He said the Supreme Committee for Nationality is performing its role to the fullest, impartially and by the law. “It is unreasonable for those holding dual nationalities and citizenship forgers to enjoy benefits they do not deserve. The law will be applied to them without any tolerance,” he asserted.

Asked about other payments, the minister clarified: “Payments for withdrawing citizenship remain in effect. The committee is carefully examining the files and the corresponding payments will be announced as soon as decisions are taken and submitted to the Council of Ministers.” On dealing with those who hold foreign, Arab or Gulf nationality; he pointed out “this is part of the work of the committee. Whoever holds dual nationalities can either give up the Kuwaiti nationality or maintain it and then give up the other nationality.”
