KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: The Kuwaiti playwright Sulayman Al-Bassam has presented his latest play, I Medea, during the arts’ festival in Mexico. Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Bassam said that his play that had been shown for two days, exhibited issues related to immigration, identity confl icts and belonging, love, treason and revenge.

It also deals with power of digital platforms in altering the political landscape, in addition to portraying other symbolic modern-time matters. I Media is a research project with a script shedding light on cross-border issues, backed by an atmosphere of special lighting and poetic touch. Al-Bassam’s troupe groups renowned and distinguished characters from Europe and the Arab world, namely the French-Syrian actress Hala Omran, the musical band “The Dragon or Two,” the lighting director Samir Shaarawi, Egypt, the production director and actor Usama Al-Jamee, Tunisia, and the Jordanian translator Wafa Al-Faraheen.

He has affirmed that his work is inspired from various cultures, stressing that theatrical creation should have no identity, “other than the sole artistic cross-border identity.” The work had gotten the lion’s share of trophies in the 22nd session of Carthage Theatrical festival held in December 22, 2021(KUNA)
