Kuwaiti referee crew set for Saudi Arabia vs Japan World Cup qualifier

KUWAIT CITY, March 24: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has appointed a Kuwaiti refereeing team to officiate the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier between Saudi Arabia and Japan, set for Tuesday at Saitama Stadium 2002. Ahmed Al-Ali will lead the match as the referee, with Abdulhadi Al-Enezi and Ahmed Sadiq serving as assistants. Ammar Ashkanani will act as the fourth official.

Abdullah Jamali will oversee the video assistant referee (VAR) duties, with Saud Al-Samhan assisting him.

Japan has already secured its World Cup qualification, topping Group C with 19 points, while Saudi Arabia is in third place with 9 points.

In other group fixtures, China (6 points) will host Australia (10 points), while Bahrain (6 points) will face Indonesia (6 points).
