KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: The Dasman Diabetes Institute has announced that Dr. Fawaz Al-Zaid, researcher and head of the Department of Bioenergy and Neurosciences at the Institute, has been selected as a member of the prestigious global council of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. This council comprises ten members from various countries around the world.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, the Institute highlighted that Dr. Al-Zaid is the first Kuwaiti to be chosen for this membership, recognizing his significant contributions to diabetes research on a global scale. As a council member, he will collaborate with the association's board of directors to raise awareness of global initiatives on diabetes and metabolic disorders, and to strengthen communication and research cooperation between the council, the association’s management, and the governance bodies of national and regional organizations.

The selection of Dr. Al-Zaid as a council member is a testament to the commitment of the Dasman Diabetes Institute, which was established by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, to conducting advanced and impactful research in the field of diabetes and its complications, adhering to the highest standards. The institute aims to utilize research data and results to improve diabetes care.

Dr. Al-Zaid expressed his honor at being chosen as a member of the World Council of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, noting that this membership offers him a unique opportunity to contribute to enhancing diabetes care and research on a global level.
