Amal Al-Roumi

PARIS, Aug 4: Kuwaiti runner Amal Al-Roumi has voiced concerns about the poor quality of food and the high temperatures, which reached 35 degrees Celsius, at the Olympic Village during the Paris 2024 Games.

Al-Roumi highlighted organizational issues in the Paris Olympics, noting in a statement to "DPA" that athletes faced challenges with high temperatures in their rooms due to inadequate air conditioning, and the food provided was subpar. Competing in the women's 800-meter race the day before yesterday, Al-Roumi finished in twenty-ninth place with a time of 2 minutes and 12.13 seconds.

She described feeling overwhelmed by the large crowd at the "Stade de France," stating, "This was the first time I ran in front of such a large audience. The most significant event I participated in before was the Asian Games, which had a much smaller crowd."

Reflecting on her Olympic debut, Al-Roumi expressed her ambition to advance to the World Championship and achieve notable results. She remarked, "Being the first Kuwaiti female runner to compete in the women's 800-meter race at the Olympics is a historic achievement for me and an honor."
