KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: The Chairman of the Kuwait Winter Games Club, Fahid Al-Ajmi, announced that the Kuwaiti speed skating team, comprising 11 players across various age groups, has departed for Malaysia to participate in the Malaysian International Cup Championship on the short track (2024). The competition, featuring international participation, will commence on the ninth of this month and last for two days.
Al-Ajmi stated that the Kuwaiti team delegation, led by the club's Secretary-General, Mishaal Fulaitah, includes team manager Youssef Al-Kandari, Malaysian coach Muhammad Arif, and players Fahad Salem, Adeeb Suleiman, Yassin Abdullah, Omar Muhammad, Hashem Al-Qallaf, Jassim Ali, Hussein Al-Ansari, Bader Al-Sarraf, Fahad Al-Abdullah, Abdullah Al-Shatti, and Abdulrahman Walid.
He mentioned that the team will undergo a short training camp for five days before the tournament begins. The players will compete in various age group categories, and Al-Ajmi expressed hope that the national team players will achieve strong results that reflect the progress of winter sports in Kuwait.
Al-Ajmi highlighted that this participation is part of the preparation for the Kuwaiti national team players for upcoming international events, most notably the Asian Winter Games scheduled for next February in China. He noted that the team includes several promising young players being groomed for future international competitions.
