KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: The Indian authorities say the Kuwaiti woman who went “missing in Kolkata, India, east of the country, on January 27 allegedly left the Indian territory accompanied by an unidentified young man to Bangladesh, according to official Indian investigations, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The daily added, she was tracked and handed over to the Kuwaiti authorities after marathon investigations which lasted for more than 10 days.

The incident, according to news agencies in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, the 31-year-old woman arrived in the city on January 20 for skin treatment in a private hospital with her younger brother, and they stayed in a five-star hotel east of the city. The authorities said the woman, with her brother went visiting the countryside on Jan 27 and went out of sight after a visit to a zoo following which her brother went to a nearby police station in the area and complained to police about the disappearance of her sister in what the authorities say, ‘broken English’.

The sources added, she could not be tracked because she was using the Kuwait sim card and the Indian authorities then began tracking her moves via the CCTV cameras installed on road sides and shops in the area.

Footage
The footage showed the woman leaving the zoo in a taxi with a young man wearing a suit, hat and face mask, which made it difficult for the local authorities to identify him, so they tracked the taxi driver and during interrogation the taxi driver said they got off at the city center. The sources added, they took another taxi from the city center to the Bangladesh border, and here the Indian authorities lost contact completely.

However, the sources said the Indian authorities then began sifting through the photos and video clips and the young man was identified as a Bangladeshi, and a warrant was issued for his arrest but records showed the man was no longer on the Indian soil and had crossed the border with the Kuwaiti woman to Bangladesh.

The authorities indicated the Kuwaiti embassy was notified of the results of the investigations, noting that there were no more details about what happened to the young man or the place but that the woman was found last Monday in Bangladesh and was handed over to the Kuwaiti authorities.
