NEW YORK, March 15: Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, emphasized the significant strides Kuwaiti women have made in various fields, contributing positively to society and the country’s development. Her remarks came on the sidelines of her participation in the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations.

In her statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Minister Al-Huwailah reiterated the importance of empowering women and enhancing their role in society, highlighting that these efforts are essential to achieving comprehensive national development.

Al-Huwailah noted that empowering women has brought significant benefits to Kuwait’s labor market, increasing diversity and providing numerous opportunities for women across both public and private sectors. This progress is largely due to the country’s laws and policies that encourage women’s active participation, leading to improved economic performance and greater national productivity.

The minister also emphasized that women play a central role in the Kuwaiti family, and through empowerment, they are able to serve as positive role models in managing family and social challenges.

Furthermore, Al-Huwailah explained that empowering women has enhanced their role in political decision-making. She cited the significant contributions of women in various positions that have brought about positive changes in state institutions, improved diversity, and ensured greater representation of women from different segments of society.

In conclusion, the Minister stressed the importance of continued efforts to empower women in Kuwaiti society. She described this as a commitment to the principles of justice and gender equality. By strengthening legislation that supports women’s rights, she said, Kuwait can foster a fair environment that eliminates discrimination and provides equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of gender.
