TUNIS, June 20: Kuwait's Issa Al-Zankawi snatched on Sunday the gold medal in the "Discus Throw" contest reaching 60 meters and 25 cms, as part of the 22nd Arab Athletics Championship (men and women) currently hosted by Tunisia. In addition, Kuwait's athletics team have obtained the silver medal in the 400-m race in the same championship. After this progress, Kuwait's players have bagged two gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the tournament.
Al-Zankawi's compatriot's Yacoub Al-Yoha has won the gold in the 110-hurdles competition after facing a strong competition with ten rivals. Kuwait's female Salsabil Al-Yasar won the bronze in the heptathlon game in which Tunisia and Egypt have won the gold and silver respectively. Ibrahim Al-Fadhli was awarded the bronze in the "Shot Put" contest in the same tournament, kicked off last Wednesday, with the participation of more than 400 athletes from 20 countries.(KUNA) -
