Mohammed Al-Daihani

PARIS, Aug 1: Kuwaiti shooter Mohammed Al-Daihani is set to compete in the Skeet competition today as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which continue until August 11. Al-Daihani aims to make a strong impression in his Olympic debut by advancing through the qualifying rounds and reaching the finals. However, this will be a challenging feat given the presence of the world's top shooters. The competition begins at 10:30 am at the Châteauroux Center.

Al-Daihani qualified for the Paris Olympics after securing third place and winning the bronze medal in the men's individual Skeet competition at the Kuwait Asian Championship. He prepared for the Olympics in Châteauroux, France.

The Skeet competition features significant Arab participation, including top contenders such as Egypt's Azmi Mehelba, who is competing in his fourth Olympic Games after participating in 2012, 2016, and 2020. Other notable participants include Egypt's Omar Ibrahim, Qatar's Rashid Al-Athba, and Palestine's George Salhi.

Amal Al-Roumi will kick off her Olympic campaign at 5:40 pm, participating in the preliminary qualifiers for the women's 800m race at the Stade de France International. Al-Roumi joined the Kuwaiti delegation at the Olympic Village last Tuesday after completing her training camp and competing in the Belgium International Athletics Championship. She has been training at the Stade de France International according to her allocated sessions.

Secretary General of the Kuwait Athletics Federation, Hussein Dashti, praised Amal Al-Roumi for her dedication to representing Kuwait on the international stage. He noted that she has maintained an intensive daily training regimen since the Tokyo Olympics to improve her technical level and set personal records in international and continental championships. Al-Roumi's official preparation plan began in May in cooperation with the Kuwait Olympic Committee and the Public Authority for Sports.
