HARBIN, Feb 11: Kuwaiti skier Salman Al-Kandari secured 10th place in the freeski slopestyle competition at the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin 2025, completing the three rounds of the event.
Al-Kandari, who made history as the first Kuwaiti athlete to compete in this event, described the competition at Yabuli Heights, located northwest of Harbin, as extremely challenging, with freezing temperatures adding to the difficulty. Despite the tough conditions, Al-Kandari completed all three rounds with strong times.
Reflecting on his performance, he noted that competing alongside the Asian champions in this discipline was an invaluable experience. He believes that the insights and experiences gained during the competition will significantly contribute to his growth as an athlete and help him achieve better results in future tournaments.
Al-Kandari expressed his gratitude for the support from the Kuwait Winter Games Club and the Kuwait Olympic Committee, who provided crucial assistance and organized strong training camps. The latest of these camps was held in Switzerland before the tournament.
