RIYADH, Nov 24: The Al-Sadu Weaving Cooperative Society of Kuwait participated on Sunday in the Saudi Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture and the Saudi International Handicrafts Week Exhibition "Banan."

In a statement to KUNA, Sheikha Bibi Duaij Al-Sabah, chairperson of the society, emphasized the importance of preserving Kuwait’s traditional textile and handicraft skills to ensure their transmission to future generations. She also highlighted the society’s efforts to promote traditional crafts as vital cultural symbols.

The society’s participation in these events is part of a broader initiative to raise awareness about handicrafts and traditional arts, which are integral to Islamic cultural heritage.

The society’s pavilion features a display of Al-Sadu weaving techniques, presented by weavers Sharifa Bu Shalfa and Amal Al-Shammari, along with a selection of textile items.

Additionally, the Al-Sadu Society is participating in the Saudi International Handicrafts Week Exhibition "Banan" in Riyadh, where it aims to showcase the craftsmanship of Kuwaitis and promote the preservation of the country’s traditional handicrafts as a key part of its cultural identity.

Al-Sadu is a non-profit, self-sustained organization committed to preserving, documenting, and promoting Kuwait's rich and diverse textile heritage. (end)
