Kuwait's ambassador to India discusses strengthening cultural and educational ties
Kuwait's Ambassador to India, Meshal Al-Shemali, meets with Nandini Singla, Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, in New Delhi.

NEW DELHI, India, Feb 17: Kuwait's Ambassador to India, Meshal Al-Shemali, held discussions on Monday with Nandini Singla, Director General of India's Council for Cultural Relations, in New Delhi to explore ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and educational sectors.

In a statement to KUNA, Ambassador Al-Shemali highlighted that the meeting focused on expanding areas of collaboration, particularly in culture and education. He emphasized that the relationship between India and Kuwait has long been built on deep cultural and social ties, dating back centuries.

Al-Shemali underscored the importance of facilitating exchanges between officials involved in cultural affairs, noting that such visits would strengthen communication and open new avenues for collaboration in both cultural and scientific fields. He also stressed the significance of fostering exchanges between scholars, intellectuals, and students from both nations, creating new opportunities for engagement.

In reference to Kuwait’s initiatives, Al-Shemali pointed out that the Kuwait Ministry of Information had launched a program on Kuwait Radio for the Indian community in April 2024. This move was made in response to the Indian community's needs and reflects the leadership's commitment to promoting Indian culture and arts in Kuwait.

On her part, Singla expressed her delight over the strong cultural ties between India and Kuwait. She reiterated the importance of further strengthening and advancing these relations. Singla also noted that the cultural cooperation between the two countries dates back to 1970, when the first agreement in this field was signed. The agreement was renewed for the period of 2025-2029 during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kuwait in December 2024.

This meeting signals a continued commitment from both countries to deepen their cultural and educational collaboration in the years ahead.
