KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: The Kuwait athletics team delegation returned to the country yesterday after wrapping up their participation in the World Youth Championship under 20, which recently concluded in Lima, Peru. The team delivered impressive performances at the championship. Hussein Al-Nasser advanced to the shot put final, securing eighth place with a personal best of 19.17 meters. Talal Al-Rashoud also reached the final of the hammer throw, finishing ninth with a throw of 70.49 meters. Meanwhile, Yaqoub Al-Azmi made it to the semifinals of the 200-meter race, recording a new personal best time of 21.24 seconds.


The national athletics team delegation, which participated in a Turkish training camp before the championship, was led by Board Member and Head of National Teams Falah Al-Ajmi. The team also included Dr. Nasser Al-Jarallah, the Technical Director of Youth, and Dr. Abdullah Bilal, the coach.

Falah Al-Ajmi praised the exceptional performance of the Kuwaiti athletes at this premier international youth event. He stated, "We are proud to see our players among the top ten competitors in a championship that features the world's best young athletes. This is a positive sign of the growth of athletics in Kuwait."

Al-Ajmi also highlighted the increasing focus on athletics and expressed optimism for the future, provided this interest continues. He extended his thanks to the players, as well as the technical and administrative staff, for their dedication and hard work over the past period.
