Kuwait Coast Guard issues warning for live-fire drill in Kuwaiti waters

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 12: The Ministry of Interior announced that the Coast Guard will conduct live ammunition shooting drills in Kuwait’s territorial waters, southeast of Bubiyan Island and northeast of Failaka Island, on Sunday and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In a statement, the General Department of Security Relations and Media clarified that the shooting range will be located southeast of Bubiyan Island and northeast of Failaka Island. The area extends from Bubiyan Island’s southern edge to Ras Al-Qaid, covering a depth of 11 nautical miles towards the southeast. The field will also stretch along Failaka Island, extending to Awha Island at a depth of 15 nautical miles towards the northeast.

The shooting area is located 2.8 nautical miles northeast of Failaka Island and spans a length of 15 nautical miles and a width of 11 nautical miles.

The ministry issued a warning to all seafarers, urging them to avoid approaching the designated area during the specified times. It emphasized that marine patrols will be on alert to prevent anyone from entering the area for the safety of all.
