KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: Kuwaiti ice hockey star Ahmed Al-Ajmi has officially retired from the sport, marking the end of an illustrious career during a farewell match between Kuwait and the "Gulf Stars." The exciting encounter, held at the Winter Games Club Hall, ended with the Gulf Stars securing an 8-7 victory.

The retirement festival was held under the patronage of former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ahmed Al-Shahoumi, who was represented by his son, Khalifa Ahmed Al-Shahoumi.

The event drew a distinguished audience, including the honorary president of the Winter Games Club, Sheikh Jaber Bandar Al-Sabah, along with the club’s chairman, board members, and a large gathering of athletes and fans. Their presence highlighted the deep appreciation and respect Al-Ajmi has earned throughout his career, as he closed a remarkable chapter of dedication and success on the ice.

Khalifa Al-Shahoumi praised Al-Ajmi as a veteran and inspirational figure in Kuwaiti ice hockey, emphasizing that his achievements will continue to inspire future generations. He also reaffirmed his father’s commitment to supporting Kuwaiti athletes across various sports, stating that honoring Al-Ajmi was a fitting tribute to his immense contributions to the national team.

Fahid Al-Ajmi, Chairman of the Winter Games Club, echoed this sentiment, acknowledging Ahmed Al-Ajmi’s vital role in shaping Kuwaiti ice hockey. He expressed confidence that Al-Ajmi's legacy will remain a cornerstone in the sport’s history in Kuwait.
