Kuwait’s ice hockey team ready for World Cup IV after successful UAE camp

ABU DHABI, April 5, (KUNA): President of the Kuwait Winter Games Club, Fehaid Al-Ajmi, affirmed that the Kuwaiti national ice hockey team is fully prepared to compete strongly in World Cup IV, set to be held in Armenia from April 13 to 19.

In a statement to KUNA during the team’s training camp in Al-Ain, UAE, Al-Ajmi said that six international teams will participate in the tournament, which is organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). He emphasized that the Kuwaiti players are in excellent physical condition and full of enthusiasm as they aim for promotion to Division III of the global tournament in the next edition.

Kuwait will kick off its World Cup campaign against Uzbekistan, followed by matches against Indonesia, host nation Armenia, Malaysia, and Iran.

Al-Ajmi praised the players’ dedication and high-level performance during the camp, also extending his gratitude to Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi and the Public Authority for Sports for their unwavering support.

He also expressed sincere appreciation to the UAE Hockey Association for its warm hospitality and the excellent facilities provided during the team's training stay in Al-Ain.

As part of its preparation, the Kuwaiti team recently played a friendly match against UAE champions Theebs, which ended in a thrilling 5-5 draw. Additional matches are scheduled in the coming days against two more UAE teams, ahead of the training camp’s conclusion on April 11.
