KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: On Monday, the Ministry of Education officially approved the estimated cost for the project to establish, complete, and maintain a special needs school complex in the Al-Aqila area, valued at approximately KD 149 million. This initiative is being carried out in cooperation and coordination with the Ministries of Finance and Public Works.

In a statement, the ministry announced that the necessary procedures for the tender will be completed in the upcoming period to ensure the project is implemented in accordance with the highest approved standards.

Minister of Education, Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, affirmed in the same statement that the ministry is working on preparing an integrated future operational plan. This plan will include the provision of specialized human resources and necessary technical equipment to ensure the complex operates at its best.

Al-Tabtabaei highlighted that this project is part of broader efforts to provide an advanced educational environment for students with disabilities. The goal is to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students, with the highest engineering and technical specifications in place.

The Al-Aqila complex is part of a wider plan to establish three new educational complexes dedicated to special needs schools. These complexes will be built in Al-Aqila, Jahra, and Hawally, aimed at addressing the growing needs of students with disabilities and ensuring they receive education in a suitable environment that meets their unique requirements.

The project’s focus is on providing a safe and comfortable educational environment that enhances learning opportunities for students with disabilities. The integration of assistive technology into the educational process will help students overcome challenges and boost their independence, enabling them to better interact with society.

Minister Al-Tabtabaei further explained that the complexes will feature integrated educational facilities equipped with the latest technologies, including modern classrooms, laboratories, and support facilities. These advanced facilities are designed to provide a holistic educational experience for students with disabilities, adhering to the best international standards.

Al-Tabtabaei also emphasized the importance of developing sports and artistic programs for students with disabilities, as these programs play a key role in improving their quality of life and enhancing their skills. These initiatives will also support their ability to participate actively in society through the latest therapeutic and rehabilitation programs.

The Minister reaffirmed that the Ministry of Education continues to implement pioneering projects aimed at developing the educational system and raising the quality of education in Kuwait. These initiatives align with the state's vision and future strategies for improving education.

Al-Tabtabaei expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ministries of Finance and Public Works for their support and cooperation in implementing this project, which is a critical step in enhancing the educational infrastructure in Kuwait. This initiative will provide a modern, integrated educational environment for all students, particularly those with special needs.

The three planned educational complexes for special needs schools will include specialized buildings designed to accommodate a variety of disabilities, including deafness, muteness, mobility impairments, Down syndrome, autism, and speech difficulties. They will also feature treatment facilities, such as physiotherapy rooms, swimming pools, and a multi-purpose gym.

In addition, the complexes will include training workshops, libraries, modern educational laboratories, and theaters equipped with advanced technologies.
