KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: Kuwaiti rally driver Mashari Al-Dhafiri secured the top spot in the overall rankings of the (T3) category during the fifth round of the World Desert Rally Championship (Baja Rally), which concluded in Poland today.

In a conversation with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday, Al-Dhafiri shared that he maintained his dominance in the championship's (T3) category by securing first place. He noted that he attained the third position in the overall standings among all rally participants.

Having clinched the first place in his category during this rally that spanned three days, beginning on the 24th of the month, Al-Dhafiri's performance elevated his score to 116 points. This achievement reinforced his position at the helm of the World Desert Rally Championship's (T3) category.

Al-Dhafiri elucidated that the rally, encompassing a total distance of 556 km, featured the participation of several of the world's finest rally drivers. With over 70 competitors across various categories, including 21 in the T3 category, the event brought together elite talents.

He expressed deep contentment with his accomplishments in this rally, highlighting his ability to compete against the best desert rally drivers globally and secure this remarkable standing. He attributed his success to a meticulous plan devised in collaboration with his team's technical experts. Distributing his efforts effectively across the race's diverse stages enabled him to achieve his objectives.

The Kuwaiti contender affirmed his commitment to delivering outstanding performances in the upcoming championship round slated to take place in Portugal in October. Fueled by determination and unwavering dedication, he aspired to bring honor to Kuwait by representing the nation in regional, continental, and international competitions.

Al-Dhafiri extended his gratitude to all those who supported him, including the General Authority for Sport, the International Automobile Club led by Imad Bukhamseen, and the 965 Club for Cars and Motorcycles. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of the president, Sheikh Muhammad Khaled Al-Jarrah, and the vice president, Sheikh Athbi Al-Nayef Al-Sabah, for their substantial support, which significantly contributed to his continuous success in this esteemed global championship.
