KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10, (KUNA): Kuwait's speed skating team achieved remarkable success at the Malaysia Skating Championship, organized by the Malaysian Federation as a one-day event.
Kuwaiti skaters Adeeb Suleiman and Omar Mohammad secured first place in the 1000-meter and 333-meter races in the adult and youth categories (A and B), respectively. Hussein Al-Ansari also clinched first place in the youth group (A). In the 500-meter races, Abdullah Al-Shatti and Abdulrahman Waleed dominated the adult category (B and A), while Fahad Al-Abdullah and Bader Al-Sarraf triumphed in the youth group (B and A), each winning their respective races.
Kuwait's Ambassador to Malaysia, Rashed Al-Saleh, congratulated the team on their achievements, highlighting the growth of speed skating in Kuwait. Head of the Kuwaiti delegation, Meshal Fulaitah, attributed this success to the players' rigorous preparation, including a training camp held in Malaysia ahead of the championship.
In a statement to KUNA, Fulaitah praised the Kuwaiti skaters for their outstanding performances. He emphasized that their participation in this championship was a key part of their preparation for the upcoming Asian Winter Games in China this February.
Both Ambassador Al-Saleh and Fulaitah, along with Malaysian officials, participated in the prize distribution ceremony. Speed skating, a prominent winter sport, is one of the main events in the Winter Olympic Games.
