Lebanese Expat Arrested in Kuwait for Human Trafficking

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 12: Under the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, security authorities have ramped up efforts to combat human trafficking and related crimes.

The Residence Affairs Sector, through the General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations, identified and acted on a case of residency fraud. The Investigation and Research Department monitored a video clip in which a Lebanese national warned members of his community about another individual of the same nationality. The suspect allegedly defrauded Lebanese citizens by falsely promising job opportunities in Kuwait in exchange for sums of money amounting to $250.

Following the monitoring of this incident, search and investigation teams swiftly identified, arrested and referred the suspect to the relevant authorities for legal action. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to firmly addressing violations of the law, exploitation of humanitarian conditions, and human trafficking. It emphasized its dedication to combating all forms of fraud and deception, particularly schemes involving the facilitation of residency in exchange for money.

Citizens and residents are urged to report any suspicious activities by contacting the Ministry’s hotline or visiting their official website at www.moi.gov.kw.
