LOS ANGELES, Jan 8: Lindsay Lohan, the iconic star of the 2004 film "Mean Girls," surprised fans with a dazzling appearance at the New York premiere of the Mean Girls musical, adapted from the Broadway show. The 37-year-old actress graced the red carpet in a stunning black dress designed by Alexandre Vauthier, featuring a bejeweled cutout and a slight slit that showcased her black ankle strap heels.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Lohan, who recently welcomed son Luai with husband Bader Shammas in July, responded to being a "cool mom" with a hopeful "I hope so!" The actress radiated confidence as she posed for solo shots and shared moments with Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey, the original film's writer.
This surprise appearance follows Lohan's reunion with the Mean Girls cast for an epic Black Friday commercial with Walmart. The nostalgic ad spot revisited iconic scenes from the movie, showcasing the grown-up North Shore High School kids.
While Lohan portrayed Cady Heron in the original Mean Girls, the 2024 musical adaptation features Angourie Rice in the lead role, with Renée Rapp reprising her Broadway character as Regina George. Tina Fey, responsible for the film's original script, is taking on both acting and writing roles in the movie-musical adaptation. The project is produced by Fey, Lorne Michaels, and Jeff Richmond, with choreography by Kyle Hanagami, known for his viral YouTube videos. The return of Lindsay Lohan to the Mean Girls universe adds a touch of glamour and excitement to the much-anticipated musical premiere.
