‘Local products key to Kuwait food security’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 7: Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, has emphasized the critical role of supporting national products to bolster Kuwait’s food security and enhance local production capabilities. Speaking during the opening of a new Farmers Union outlet in the Fahd Al-Ahmad area, located in Ahmadi Governorate, Dr. Al-Huwailah noted that this initiative is part of broader efforts aimed at expanding markets for locally grown agricultural products and ensuring a sustainable supply of quality produce. In her press statement, Dr. Al-Huwailah praised the dedication of Kuwaiti farmers in supporting national food security, commending their ability to consistently produce high-quality crops that contribute to the country’s agricultural output. She acknowledged the vital role these farmers play in ensuring a stable and reliable food supply, which is especially important given global challenges related to food shortages and climate change.

“The quality of local agricultural products is a testament to the hard work and innovation of our farmers,” Dr. Al-Huwailah said, expressing her deep appreciation for their ongoing efforts. She reiterated that the Ministry of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs is fully committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the value and competitiveness of local products in the market. The minister also emphasized the need to continue improving agricultural practices and expanding support systems for farmers to meet growing demands and secure a stable food future for Kuwait. (KUNA)
