Lowest bidder wins pact to build purification plant

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 17: After preparing the valuation budget for the submitted bids and in response to the Ministry of Public Works’ request, the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) decided in its meeting last Wednesday to award the contract for the construction, operation, and maintenance of a purification plant in South Mutlaa City to the company with the lowest bid. The project, with a total cost of KD 149.6 million, will be implemented within five days.

According to sources, the project involves the construction of a purification plant and a pumping station with a capacity of up to 400,000 m³/day to treat wastewater from South Mutlaa City. It also includes the establishment of an electrical conversion station with a capacity of 16 MW, as well as administrative buildings, laboratories, and infrastructure services for the sewage treatment plant.

The project will also address the treatment of sludge to generate electrical energy. In addition, the project includes a control and distribution system for treated water (DMC), treated water lines for irrigation in South Mutlaa Housing City, and a connection to the Abdali farms irrigation network. The sources highlighted that the Ministry of Public Works is committed to collaborating with all relevant government agencies, in line with the directives of the Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan. This includes supporting housing projects and their infrastructure needs, such as sewage treatment and purification stations, as these are critical components of the city’s overall development.
