KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Offices (KUDLO) Chairman Khaled Al-Dakhnan asserted that allowing the return of domestic workers is a positive step and it is considered a good start for the local domestic labor market, but it came late, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Dakhnan pointed out to the daily that the delay in allowing the return of domestic workers under certain regulations and conditions exacerbated the crisis, especially since the contracts of about 70 percent of the domestic workers in Kuwaiti homes have already expired.

He said the expiration of the contracts of domestic workers who are currently in the country, their inability to travel, and the lack of workers in the market contributed to the prevalence of negative phenomena in this sector; such as absconding or refusal to work given that the two-year contract already expired and nothing binds the two parties.
