LONDON, July 4: Prince William and Kate Middleton have initiated a significant staff shake-up within their royal foundation as preparations are underway for the Princess's return to public life following an improvement in her health.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have appointed Sir David John Lewis, knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2021, as a trustee at the Royal Foundation, marking a pivotal move ahead of Kate's anticipated return to duties. This decision follows weeks after the Princess's announcement of her gradual comeback to work.
According to reports from GB News, the appointment signals a fresh direction for the royal couple, who recently postponed their search for a new CEO for the Royal Household amidst ongoing priorities.
"While the focus remains on the Princess's recovery, no new appointments have been made within the Royal Household," clarified a spokesperson to Richard Eden.
Sir David, formerly of Tesco, will collaborate with Prince William and Kate Middleton on their philanthropic endeavors, which encompass initiatives addressing homelessness, addiction, and the Duchess's Early Years development advocacy.
The newly established trustee role is envisioned to oversee numerous staff members, representing a departure from traditional subordinate structures to Private Secretaries.
Amidst ongoing speculation about Princess Kate's potential appearance at Wimbledon, Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm her attendance at the prestigious tennis tournament.
