WASHINGTON, Nov 7, (Agencies): A man has mysteriously disappeared while onboard the "Headbanger's Boat" cruise, a heavy metal-themed voyage departing from Miami, as confirmed by the cruise line.

The 41-year-old guest was sailing on the Norwegian Pearl when he reportedly "went overboard while the ship was sailing near the Bahamas" on a fateful Friday. A spokesperson for Norwegian Cruise Line provided this disconcerting information.

The authorities were promptly alerted, and the United States Coast Guard initiated a search operation to locate the missing passenger. Regrettably, their efforts proved unsuccessful.

The cruise line extended their condolences to the loved ones of the missing individual during this distressing period. As of now, the passenger's identity has not been disclosed.

Lamb of ..., the group headlining the five-day, four-night event, also expressed their profound sadness over the incident. They sent their heartfelt support to the family and loved ones of the missing guest, as reported by Metal Injection and Metal Hammer.

The Norwegian Pearl was hosting the Headbanger's Boat cruise, a production associated with the Grammy Award-nominated metal band. The cruise's inaugural journey commenced on Oct 31 and was originally set to conclude on Nov 4, the day following the passenger's inexplicable disappearance.

The Norwegian Pearl was making its way back to Miami from Nassau, Bahamas, where passengers had enjoyed a day ashore before reboarding the vessel, as indicated on the cruise's website.

The cruise featured performances by several other notable metal bands, including fellow Grammy-nominated acts such as Mastodon, Hatebreed, GWAR, and Shadows Fall.

An ongoing investigation is in progress to uncover the circumstances surrounding the passenger's disappearance, according to the Norwegian Cruise Line spokesperson.
