KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: The Nationality Investigations Department has uncovered a significant forgery case involving a Kuwaiti citizenship file linked to a man born in 1957. The case came under scrutiny after it was discovered that the individual received his nationality certificate in 1993—at the age of 35, long after Kuwait's invasion—raising suspicions of forgery.
Investigations revealed that the man’s nationality had been fraudulently registered, with evidence showing that 74 individuals, falsely listed as his children and grandchildren, were illegitimately added to the file. These names, along with all forgers involved, will have their citizenship revoked.
The case unraveled after the alleged forger’s supposed brothers confessed to the Nationality Investigations Department, denying any familial relationship and admitting he was fraudulently added to their deceased father’s citizenship file. Further inquiries revealed that the father had used a fictitious birth certificate and name to claim benefits and later registered the man as his son to secure citizenship post-invasion.
The individual was granted Kuwaiti citizenship in 1993 based on this fraudulent claim. Authorities have confirmed that all necessary legal actions are being taken to address the violations and revoke citizenships tied to this case.
