RIYADH, Dec 17: In Medina, Saudi authorities executed Abdul Rahman bin Saleh on Saturday, following his conviction for the fatal stabbing of his mother and sister, along with burning their bodies. The Saudi Interior Ministry disclosed that the convict had set the victims' corpses on fire to hide the murders and his addiction to prescription tablets.

After his arrest and subsequent interrogation, Abdul Rahman bin Saleh faced trial in a competent court, which found him guilty of the double murder. The verdict was later affirmed by appeals and supreme courts, receiving final approval through a royal order.

Details surrounding the timing of the murder and the motive remain unclear. Saudi Arabia enforces the death penalty for individuals convicted of murder, terrorist activities, as well as drug smuggling and trafficking.

In a similar incident in August, Riyadh witnessed the execution of Bandr Al Dousri, who was convicted of torturing his wife to death in their home. Al Dousri faced charges of brutally bludgeoning his wife on the head in front of their children after a domestic dispute.

Additionally, in July, a brother and sister in Mecca were executed after being found guilty of killing their parents and two brothers. The convicts were charged with murdering their mother and a brother by administering sleeping pills in their dinner before fatally shooting them. Subsequently, the perpetrators moved the bodies to a rest house they owned, lured their father to the location, and shot him dead before setting the premises ablaze.
