Inmate escapes in brazen ambush: French authorities launch massive manhunt.

FRANCE, May 14: In a disturbing incident reported by French media, an inmate escaped while being transported in a van, alongside attackers who launched a brazen ambush on the convoy. The escape prompted a massive manhunt, with hundreds of police officers and gendarmes deployed to track down the perpetrators.

French President Emmanuel Macron assured the public that every effort is underway to locate the individuals involved. Meanwhile, Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti revealed that three officers sustained serious injuries during the attack and are currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Identified as Mohamed A., born in 1994, the inmate has a history of criminal convictions, including drug offenses and attempted homicide. Reports suggest he was returning to jail in Évreux after attending a court hearing in Rouen earlier that day.

The ambush occurred around 11:00 near a toll booth on the A154 motorway, resulting in its closure in both directions. According to AFP, multiple individuals approached the prison convoy in two vehicles, wielding heavy weaponry.

Tragically, two agents lost their lives in the attack. Dupond-Moretti expressed his condolences, highlighting the devastating impact on their families. He vowed that every measure would be taken to apprehend the perpetrators, condemning their disregard for human life.

The incident has shocked France, prompting an urgent response from authorities to ensure swift justice and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
