KUWAIT CITY, Mar 29: A joint committee comprising members from the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Kuwait Municipality launched a surprise inspection campaign last Friday and arrested groups of people for violating commercial laws and operating from inside their houses in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The committee spotted 44 labor violations in the Farwaniya Governorate, most of them in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. Sources told the daily the committee found a grocery operating from inside a house in the area and an unlicensed food store containing dozens of consumables and a group of customers.

The sources pointed out that the grocery was operating through a secret opening inside an Arab type house although from the outside the door was cemented and closed permanently. The committee also seized iron scrap and auto repair and paint center working without a license, in addition to dozens of workers who were working for a private company. Most of those arrested are believed to be violators of labor law.
