LOS ANGELES, Dec 22: Mariah Carey had a memorable moment with Rihanna at her final Christmas Time tour concert. On Tuesday, Dec. 17, the 55-year-old pop icon concluded her tour with a star-studded audience that included Rihanna, the 36-year-old Fenty founder.

During her performance of “Always Be My Baby,” Carey left the stage to interact with fans, take selfies, and greet the crowd. As she was making her way back up the stairs, a security guard stopped her, prompting Carey to descend once again. She joked about the situation, telling PEOPLE, “I was like, ‘You cannot call me a diva again because I’m literally backing down the stairs.’”

It turned out Carey was heading back to the pit to meet Rihanna, who was in the crowd. The two shared a humorous moment when Carey signed Rihanna’s breast. “That was hilarious,” Carey recalls. “I had heard that Rihanna was coming to the show, but I didn’t think she was going to be in the actual crowd. She was fun.”

Carey also addressed whether she’s tired of Christmas music. “I’m in Aspen, and right now ‘Oh, Santa’ is playing over the speakers, and I’m like, ‘I guess I’m not sick of it,’” she says, confirming she’s still enjoying the holiday tunes.

Although Carey has covered classic Christmas songs like “Joy to the World” and “Silent Night,” she hopes to record another “slow, sad song” for the holidays in the future.

Carey has no plans to stop performing her Christmas shows, though she may adjust her schedule. After canceling three recent performances due to illness, she shared, “It’s probably something that I’ll always do. I just need to schedule it a little bit differently because this year I’d gotten sick just from being out there too long.”

Finally, Carey spoke about the possibility of releasing her long-lost grunge album, which she rediscovered in 2022. “People have been asking me about it, and it’s something that I love so much,” she says. “And we might see it in 2025, probably a little bit later than that.”
