KUWAIT CITY, April 29: The Kuwait Municipality launched a massive campaign on Monday to remove the illegal godowns in Salmi, as part of a comprehensive government plan to remove encroachments on state properties and serious violations observed in several locations in the country. According to informed sources, the municipality has prepared a time plan to remove encroachments on state properties, which will take three months in several land sites, including Salmi, Abdali, Al-Mutlaa, Kabad, Barr Al-Sulaibiya, and Amghara, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Interior and the Environment Public Authority.
These illegal reserves had been transformed into mini-factories, warehouses, and random workshops, with some wild sites becoming a hotbed for all kinds of violations, transgressions, and illegal practices. The sources said, “Some have acquired state lands by surrounding them with various areas and exploiting them in an irregular manner, as if these lands were private estates without a license.” Meanwhile, Head of the Violations Removal Department in Farwaniya Municipality Fahad Al-Muwaizri affirmed that the field tours resulted in the removal of 85 canopies for encroachments on state property used to rent parking lots, in addition to the removal of 105 iron barriers and chains, adding that necessary measures were taken against the violators.
