KUWAIT CITY, Jun 24: Customs officers at the Northern Ports Customs Administration and Failaka Island successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle approximately 3,622,500 packets of the prohibited and chewing tobacco "Pan" into Shuwaikh Port. The contraband was concealed within packing boxes, safes, bags, and clothing shipments from Asian countries.

Details of the incident reveal that two consecutive smuggling attempts were thwarted. The banned product was cleverly hidden among various packing boxes, cabinets, storage bags, and a clothing shipment. Suspicious of the contents, customs officials subjected the items to an x-ray scan, which revealed a high density, prompting a thorough search. This search uncovered a total of approximately 3,622,500 tobacco packets, weighing 13,229,100 tons.

Director General of the General Administration of Customs, Mr. Abdullah Adel Al-Sharhan, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all customs officers across land, sea, and airports for their relentless efforts in safeguarding the country's security.
