KUWAIT CITY, July 30: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi commended the Medical Emergency Department on Monday for its pivotal role in securing various national events and managing emergencies. In a press statement following a field visit to the department, Dr. Al-Awadhi praised the dedication of its members in saving lives and handling emergency reports around the clock.

Dr. Al-Awadhi emphasized the importance of ongoing training, development, and continuous education as integral components of the Ministry of Health's strategy and the government’s action plan. He underscored the need for continued support and development to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and excellence in the health sector.

The minister highlighted the department’s significant contributions to improving health services and ensuring a swift and effective response to emergencies. According to the semi-annual report for 2024, the Medical Emergency Department has shown exceptional performance. The department handled approximately 61,000 urgent reports and addressed 86,000 cases, including 5,400 road accidents. It also managed 73,000 ambulance transports, 530 air ambulance transports, and performed 296 cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) operations.

Additionally, the department provided coverage for 5,400 events, conducted 24,000 blood sugar tests, installed 405 intravenous catheters, and organized 23 exercises and training campaigns during the first half of the year.

Dr. Al-Awadhi’s visit and subsequent praise reflect the Ministry of Health’s commitment to enhancing emergency medical services and ensuring that Kuwait’s health sector remains at the forefront of emergency response and patient care.
